The 6th Irish Confucius Cup Table Tennis Tournament Held in Dublin

On May 14th 2017, the 6th Confucius Cup Table Tennis Tournament was completed in Dublin successfully. The tournament was co-hosted by UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII) and Dundrum Table Tennis Club. Sixty-four contestants from twenty countries such as China, Ireland, the U.K., France, Poland etc. participated in the tournament. Read more

Open Day for MA in Teaching Chinese and Launch the Magazine of Chinese Teachers Association of Ireland

UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII) and UCD Irish Institute for Chinese Studies (IICS) jointly hosted an open day for the Masters and Diploma in Teaching Chinese on April 29th, 2017. The Chinese Teachers Association of Ireland (CTAI) launched their inaugural issue of the Magazine in Chinese Teaching. The event was attended by more than 70 people including local Chinese teachers from Ireland, Chinese teachers from Hanban, students of the Diploma and MA in Teaching Chinese as well as CTAI members.  Read more

The Irish Final of 16th International Chinese Bridge Competition for College Students Successfully Held

The Irish Final of 16th International Chinese Bridge Competition for College Students took place in the Double Tree Hilton Morrison Hotel on April 22nd 2017. The event was organized by the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland and co-hosted by the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland and UCD Irish Institute for Chinese Studies. Around 30 candidates from UCD, UCC, Trinity College, DIT, NUI Maynooth etc. participated in the Competition. The event was attended by distinguished guests from the Chinese Embassy in Ireland including the Chinese Ambassador H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Deputy Head of Mission and Political Counsellor Mrs Yang Hua, First Secretary of the Education Section Professor Wu Xiaochuang, Head of the Political and Press Office Mr. Pan Xiongwen. Among attendees were UCD Vice President Prof. Dolores O’Riordan, Directors and Chinese Directors of the UCD Confucius Institute and UCC Confucius Institute as well as local Chinese media representatives. On 22nd March 2017, UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland welcomed Prof. Henry Sun, Senior Research Fellow of China Pangoal Institute to deliver a public lecture on Sun Tzu’s The Art of War and Trump’s Twitter as part of his political marketing. Professor Liming Wang, Director of UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland, chaired the lecture which was attended by around 100 audience, including UCD Vice President Prof. Michael Monaghan. H.E. The 10th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Irish Secondary School Students was held in Cork on March 11th , 2017. Co-organised by the UCC Confucius Institute (CI) and the UCC School of Asian Studies, the competition attracted over 100 students from Dublin, Cork, Galway and other regions. The Competition was also attended by distinguished guests including Cllr.
